HOW MANY BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY?
Mrs Tiffney has a problem. She has to give a report to Mr Dave
Simmons, her boss. There is only one piece of information she still needs to
figure out and of course it is the
most important.
Since she became the librarian of the school she has added
lots and lots of books to the library. Now she needs to know how many books
there are in the library. She has asked our class to help her figure it out.
She wants to present the information in a few different ways.
We need to help her figure out the answers to the questions
below.
****In addition, you must include an explanation of why you
did what you did and how you arrived at your answer. (Do this for each problem
below)****
(1) How many books are there in the library?
(2) If we stacked them up how
tall of a stack would they make? Give the answers in both metric and
non-metric.
(3) Make up one more question that involves the number of
books and answer it. Show me your
question before you answer it.
